This is a two week project of which we are starting the second week looking at the story of 'The Bog Baby' and using it as inspiration for your own writing. This week we will only be focusing on lessons 6 - 10 (If you haven't completed all of the lessons from last week please continue those first before starting this week).

These documents include everything you need to complete your learning and writing.

  • The UNIT OVERVIEW shows you the Lesson Objectives for each daily lesson.
  • The VIPERS document includes questions and comprehension tasks for each page of the story to work through and answer as you read/listen to the story. The PowerPoint for the story included further up this page will be useful for these reading sessions. There are 7 suggested sessions so work through them in order. You don't need to print these just have them open when reading the story and write/type answers separately.
  • Also included is a detailed explanation of what to do in each of the 10 lessons (5 for last week and 5 for this week). This LESSON PLANNING document has a number of suggested activities for your ability with writing. It is best to start with the 'Expect' section but feel free to give the 'Simplify' and 'Extend' sections a go to build up your ideas and writing skills.
  • The last document is TEACHING RESOURCES at the bottom of each of these pages it will say 'The Bog Baby Resource with a number and letter (eg 8c). The number refers to which number of the 10 lessons is being taught. PLEASE remember you do not need to print these resources you can either leave them open to look at on the screen or your child can copy down any words/openers/examples onto paper to refer to when completing their writing.

READING - BUG CLUB

Log in to Bug Club and choose one of your allocated books to read every day and click on the little bug faces to answer comprehension questions on each page.
We are continuing our new topics for this half term of Beats, Band, Boogie and Bounce. We are combining our musical skills and physical fitness to create an active, fun and enjoyable topic for you to complete whilst learning at home! Here are your learning at home tasks for you to continue with from last week and introduce you to this topic (Please take these as suggestions and adjust them to suit the space and resources available). I look forward to sharing your creations and work with everyone on Class Dojo.

In this unit, children learn about how humans and other animals are born, grow and change, and what we need to survive and be healthy.
Children classify different kinds of animal babies, learn about the basic needs that are shared by humans and animals, and research the differing needs of animals within our care. Focusing their own experiences, children explore the need for humans to eat a varied diet, to keep themselves clean, and to take regular exercise.

Throughout the unit, the learning materials encourage children to make positive choices that contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

Please continue to use these methods and create your own calculations for the four operations.

We have a different maths challenge for each day which are included below. Please also carry on with the ongoing learning and select an arithmetic paper, maths skills or activity mats to complete each day.

Don't forget to log in and practice on Times Tables Rockstars!
