"Enrichment for life"

Year 5

Adventure Island- What a fantastic day!

Year 5 had such a fantastic day at Adventure Island and they even managed to get Mrs Allen on some rides!

Allotment

As part of our topic this term, we are going to be attempting to grow our own vegetables. The first task was to do some weeding which the children all really enjoyed, so get them helping out in the gardens at home!

Science- Changes of materials

Our topic in Spring 2 was Ancient Egyptians; we learnt about many things including mummification. Mummification was a pretty gory process so we just stuck to using toilet rolls to demonstrate! Can you guess who our mummies are?
In Autumn 2, the Year 5 Otters went on a role-play trip to Hatfield House, in order to have an audience with Henry VIII in person. They had to learn a traditional Tudor Song - "The Hunt is Up" (please ask them to sing this for you). They performed this song to Henry and were, thankfully, not beheaded!! We were able to explore the grounds of the manor Elizabeth I lived in, and all students returned back to school suitably exhausted!

In Autumn 1, Year 5 went on a trip to Lea Valley, in an attempt to locate and identify Minibeasts within their natural habitats. We used maps and compasses in order to find Orienteering targets. The Golden Jets group were victorious, however all groups were enthusiastic and performed commendably.
