Weather and School Closure
We have monitored the weather all of this week and our pupils, parents and staff have been brilliant at supporting our decision to remain open. We take cognisance of the fact that it is the prerogative of our parents to consider personal safety when deciding not to send children into school and we support that right.
I have been in consultation with primary headteachers across Harlow, all of whom were open today but who have decided to close tomorrow. I have taken into consideration the weather forecast of continued freezing weather overnight, worsening pathway and side road conditions and the fact that even though we had our staff in today, some who live more than 45minutes drive away from school found it difficult and two were unable to get in.
In the light of all of the above considerations, Water Lane will be closed tomorrow, Friday 2nd of March.
We understand that this may cause disruption to family routines and commitments but wish for our parents to know that the decision to close a school is never taken lightly.
Thank you for your continued understanding and support.
